1st Rabi al-Akhar 1421: Marriage

All praise belongs to Almighty Allah (swt), the Lord of the Universe.

"And amongst His signs is that He created mates from among yourselves that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and caused between you love and compassion: Verily in this are signs for those who reflect" - Holy Qur'an (30:21)

Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) as said in regards to marriage:

"Any young man who marries at the beginning of his youth, his Satan moans and intensively regrets that he has protected two thirds of his faith from Satan"

"No institution in Islam in liked by God more than that of marriage"

"One who marries has already guarded half of his religion, therefore he should fear God (attain taqwa) for the other half"

Marriage is very highly regarded in Islam, and it is a tradition (sunnah) of Prophet Muhammad (saww). Youths should be encouraged to marry as soon as they attain the age of maturity. In a world where there is constant pressure to get involved in immorality, especially in the West, parents and community leaders need to encourage and support young people to get married. Youths should not have to wait until they finish studies and ‘stand on their own two feet’ before getting married because that is not the criteria in Islam.
